A curated spotlight on global technologies defining the next era of care, infrastructure, and financial resilience.
AgeTech is the essential operating system for a resilient future. The Intellia Framework structures the ASEAN longevity economy into five core pillars, providing a standardized lens for synchronizing investment, policy, and infrastructure:
1. Integrated Care System
2. Adaptive Infrastructure
3. Financial Resilience
4. Digital Public Infrastructure
5. The Silver Economy
These pillars represent the fundamental areas where AgeTech strengthens healthy longevity and long-term national readiness.
The Global Innovation Spotlight series is our curated gallery of international excellence, highlighting the tools that serve as the connective tissue for inclusive, resilient societies.
Yukai Engineering (Japan)
Humanizing the Home with "Warm Technology". BOCCO emo is a communication robot designed to foster deep, empathetic connections across generations.
By replacing cold surveillance with "emo language": gestures, light, and empathetic sound, it maintains individual dignity while providing vital support for families and caregivers.
Strategic Alignment with the Intellia Framework:
-Adaptive Infrastructure (Pillar 2)
• Zero-Infrastructure (LTE)
Unlike most smart devices, BOCCO emo does not require Wi-Fi. It is a "plug-and-play" solution that operates on its own cellular network, making it the ideal choice for retrofitting older homes without modern internet infrastructure.
• Passive Safety
Through discreet vibration and motion sensors, the robot notifies caregivers of daily activities, such as a door opening or a kettle being used, providing peace of mind without the need for a camera lens or the feeling of being watched hence, making it ideal for seniors, children, or anyone living independently.
-Integrated Care Systems (Pillar 1)
• Cognitive Wellness:
In partnership with the Japan Dementia Prevention Association, BOCCO emo provides daily brain-training exercises and healthy lifestyle reminders, transitioning care from reactive monitoring to proactive wellness.
• Clinical Utility:
Integration with health devices allows for the seamless tracking of vitals, turning the robot into a friendly hub for remote health management.
-The Silver Economy (Pillar 5)
• Tactile Simplicity:
Designed with an understanding of the "PurposeSpan," BOCCO emo features no complex screens or menus. Interaction happens via physical buttons that users of any age or technical ability can master in seconds, ensuring they remain connected, engaged, and productive within their family and community ecosystems.
Our first spotlight features BOCCO emo by Yukai Engineering. This video demonstrates a zero-infrastructure, camera-free approach to emotive care that respects privacy while maintaining vital family connections.
Note: While this demonstration is in Japanese, the non-verbal "emo language" and tactile simplicity transcend language barriers.

Disclaimer: The Global Innovation Spotlight is an editorial series curated by AgeTech Asia to highlight technological excellence in the longevity economy. While we facilitate regional alignment and framework integration, inclusion in this series does not constitute a formal legal partnership or commercial endorsement by Intellia Holdings Sdn. Bhd.
These five domains do not exist in isolation. Together, they form a comprehensive ecosystem designed for policymakers, industry leaders, and community organizations.
AgeTech serves as the connective tissue across all five pillars, providing the practical pathways required to:
Reduce Systemic Strain: Shifting care from high-cost clinical environments to the home.
Enhance Individual Dignity: Ensuring technology empowers the user rather than monitoring them.
Architect Resilience: Building the human and digital infrastructure necessary for a 100-year life.
